Stine Seed #46 takes 4th in Iowa Speedway Season Opener

ADEL, IOWA — April 21, 2008

Carter dominates majority of race, Car held back by tire troubles

After running well ahead of the pack through most of Saturday’s Iowa Speedway Prairie Meadows 250 on Saturday, the Clement Racing #46 Stine LibertyLink Soybeans Ford Fusion, tire trouble in the final five laps of the race pulled driver Matt Carter back to fourth place.

“This was a very exciting start of the Stine Racing season,” says David Thompson, Stine Seed Director of Marketing. “Our driver, Matt Carter, started in the pole position and dominated the majority of the race. The tire situation that emerged at the end of the race was unfortunate, but the Clement Racing #46 Stine LibertyLink Soybeans Ford Fusion still maintained a very respectable top-five finish.”

Driver Matt Carter also grabbed the SunTrust Rookie of the Race honors for the second consecutive week and was the Aaron's Lap Leader and posted the Accell Fastest Lap of the Race (134.151 mph/23.481 seconds).

"I tried to drive my guts out, but there was really nothing we could do," Carter told the Des Moines Register about the final laps of the race. “The tire problems affected the steering, so it was a battle just to keep from going into the wall.”

Stine Racing fans showed up in droves to watch the race. “We had great Stine representation at the race,” Thompson adds. “Our growers, dealers and Stine employees have shown great interest and, even though it was a chilly day, they had a great day cheering Matt on and enjoying the race.”

Stine Racing’s next start is Friday, April 25, at the Kansas Lottery $150 Grand at the Kansas Speedway.

The Clement Racing #46 Stine LibertyLink Soybeans Ford Fusion is owned by Larry Clement, Fort Dodge, Iowa, with Carter’s father, Travis Carter – himself a former NASCAR champion crew chief and car owner.
