Carter racks up impressive first season in ARCA competition

Matt Carter, driver of the Clement Racing #46 Stine LibertyLink Soybeans Ford Fusion, was named ARCA RE/MAX Series SunTrust Rookie of the Year at the organization's annual banquet Saturday at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center in Covington, Kentucky.

In his first season of ARCA racing, Carter took home the first-place trophy at Toledo, and in his 21 series career starts racked up eight top-five finishes and 14 top-10 finishes, leading 280 laps in five races - the most laps led of any driver.

"Being named SunTrust Rookie of the Year is an accomplishment for our whole team," Carter says. "There was a lot for all of us to learn this year. It was a real challenge for us, but the team worked hard to make great things happen, keep us at the top of the points race and cross the finish line at the front of the pack consistently. This is really quite an honor for everyone."

For Stine Seed Company, 2008 turned out to be a great rookie year as a sponsor, as well. "Developing the Stine Racing program has been quite a whirlwind of excitement this year," says David Thompson, National Sales and Marketing Director for Stine Seed Company. "The Clement Racing team has done an outstanding job of showcasing Stine Seed and LibertyLink soybeans to the racing public across the country."

"Matt and the team have raced their hearts out this past year, keeping the Stine LibertyLink Soybeans car out in the front of the pack and very prominent in televised broadcasts," Thompson notes. "The exposure for our brand was tremendous - in fact, there were times when Matt's in-car cameras were used almost exclusively to show the race action on national TV."

Car owner, Larry Clement, is pleased with the Rookie of the Year honors, as well.

"I couldn't be more proud of Matt and the whole team," he says. "The 2008 season was a new chapter for Clement Racing, for our team and for our sponsors - we even had new tires to contend with. As you can see, the story is shaping up to be a great one for the coming seasons, too."

Clement added that this was the most talented rookie class that he's seen in his 15 years of championship racing. "The competition from top to bottom was the toughest we've encountered," he adds.
