Carter grabs ARCA points lead at Kansas Speedway

ADEL, IOWA — April 26, 2008

Grabbing the points lead is a bright spot in an otherwise cold and frustrating day

The sun shone fitfully and a cold wind blew Friday at the Kansas Speedway as the Clement Racing #46 Stine LibertyLink Soybeans Ford Fusion raced in the Kansas Lottery $150 Grand in Kansas City, crossing the finish line in 11th place.

The good news for the Stine Racing team, however, is that even with a finish just barely out of the top 10, Carter flew past points leader Justin Allgaier and bested the second-place points holder, Frank Kimmel, to grab the ARCA/REMAX Series points lead. Kansas Speedway race winner, Scott Speed, is 90 points behind Carter.

Unofficial ARCA RE/MAX Series Point Standings after the Kansas Lottery $150 Grand (4-25-08):

1) Matt Carter 805; 2) Frank Kimmel 765; 3) Justin Allgaier 760; 4) Scott Speed 715; 5) Patrick Sheltra 710; 6) Tom Hessert III 700; 7) John Wes Townley 695; 8) Ken Butler III 670; 9) Ricky Stenhouse Jr., 660; 10) Bobby Gerhart 610.

The #46 car performed fitfully during qualifying, placing driver Matt Carter in seventh place for the start of the race. Suspension problems kept Carter returning to the pits for fine tuning.

"The car wasn't performing well in qualifying rounds," says Carter. "We thought we had most of the problems ironed out, but we continued to struggle with it through the race."

The next event on the ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule is the Carolina 500 at Rockingham. The race is LIVE on SPEED on Sunday, May 4th, beginning at 12 noon Eastern.

The Clement Racing #46 Stine LibertyLink Soybeans Ford Fusion is owned by Larry Clement, Fort Dodge, Iowa, with Carter's father, Travis Carter - himself a former NASCAR champion crew chief and car owner.
